m39 vfd connections

Post by glenng »

we are upgradind from m15 to m39. the machine has a yaskawa varispeed 606pc3 i am having trouble knowing were to make connections. i believe i need to use the dac out and com connections on the alkl in 1 ,have multi-step speed reset on vfd not sure if that is same vfd only shows one common do i run all commons thru that.there are also terminals marked volume 1 and 2 on vfd not sure if that reletes to speed control. in the past speed control was controlled by rheostat on front of machine if i had to use it that way im ok with it just not sure how to get it to work.contro a900812. thanks for any help. glenn

If you have a spindle encoder and are using feed per rev moves, varying the feedrate with the feedrate override know will cause the spindle speed to change in order to maintain the specified feed per rev.

before we upgraded the control you couldnt control speed or turn spindle on or off in the control. it was done thru a panel mounted to front of machine were the speed dial would be on a varispeed bridgeport. the display goes to 4900 rpm . the computer display hooked to all in one reads up to 3000. both can effect rpm independent of each other so dont know what the rpm actually is.

To what terminals on the PC3 inverter (VFD) do you have the 0-10V analog signal and analog common wires connected?

To what, and where, are the wires from the pot on the head connected?

You are going to need to disconnect the pot on the head, and you may as well remove it. Depending on how it was implemented, you might have to change parameters in your inverter as well.

the pot is the assembly on the head with display ans switches,or just a component in that assembly.analog to terminal 8 and common to terminal 11

Sorry for the jargon. "Pot" is short for "potentiometer", which means a variable resistor. It is the component with three terminals, and a shaft sticking out to hold the knob that you turn.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potentiometer

It might help if you posted a picture of the controls that were/are on the head of your machine. For all we know, you have a mechanical vari-speed that is entirely unrelated to the VFD.
