Lathe C axis

Anyone know if it’s possible to add “C” axis to centroid lathe without buying the unlock?
I just need to do basic indexing for cutting key ways and splines.
The “C” unlock costs more than the whole controller does.
The cost of a new controller with a “C” unlock puts the control more expensive than Fagor or Siemens units with C included.

Not as far as I know. If you just need indexing, you could probably rig up a stepper controlled with an arduino.

we are working on v4.16 of cnc12 which has an all new software option structure, its in beta testing at the moment. see draft PDF attached.

Upgrade path to CNC12 v4.16 software upgrade from older versions of CNC10,CNC11,CNC12

1.) Everyone can buy Pro who is upgrading from cnc7,10,11, or cnc12 for $299 (this will be called "Legacy Software Upgrade" part #tbd ) (obviously some will need a hardware upgrade as well at additional cost, the going rate for such hardware).

2.) Anyone who has an existing paid software option unlock that is in the Ultimate Level, will get the Ultimate Level with the $299 Legacy Software Upgrade.

3.) Anyone who bought an Oak/Allin1DC/Mpu11 within 18 months of this release can purchase the Legacy Software Upgrade Pro level for $99, older than 18 months $299

4.) If someone purchases Pro then at a later date wants to upgrade to Ultimate they can purchase Ultimate for: $450

So it looks like $995 on top of controller cost gets you all options (including C axis).
Now if you would add a re-thread function to the lathe intercon you would be on the level of the other guys.
That's the only thing I see missing on my centroid lathe that my other controllers have.

Will there be changes to the Oak or AlliniDC hardware also? I'm wondering because I just purchased an Oak board yesterday for a lathe retrofit.

I’ve seen that tech sheet for rethread. On my Fagor you just line up your threading tool with center of thread and then press one button to “learn” thread position.
Takes about 10 seconds and your rethreading. That’s what you guys need.

Sorry no one answered this. To my knowledge, Oak and All in One hardware stay the same.
Centroid is working on a solution for those that have recently purchased new hardware and would like to upgrade to 4.16

Its still in testing. But it is being tested and Centroid wants to get it out. Can't exactly say when though.
