With my Lathe, I used the glentek motors with the encoders that they came with. everything worked well as far as the encoders, but then all of a sudden my x axis stopped finding home. it would hit the switch back off till the limit cleared then just keep going. seems it wasn't finding the index or z. z axis still worked for a while but it stopped too now. Is there a easy way to check the encoder without a oscilloscope.

lauyder,

From the main screen of CNC11 press F1(Setup)->F3(Config)->default password is 137->F4(PID). You can hit E-stop to release power to the motors and move that axis by hand. If you look at the column with the axis label, an asterisk, *, will appear whenever the software sees the index pulse from that axis encoder. If you never see an asterisk, then there could be an issue with either the encoder or the cabling.

Thanks for that Scott
I had a spare motor here so I exchanged the encoders and it turns out the reason I had it, was it wasn't working. so I put the old one back and now it works. must have been a loose connection somewhere.
