Intermittent 436 alarm CNC7

Post by rustbeltinnovations »

I am having intermittent 436 Servo Shutdown alarms popping up. It will go a day without having them and then randomly start causing me issues. I noticed tonight that the E stop wont work or reset while the alarm is on, than randomly Ill hear something power up in the eletctronics and the E stop can be pressed and released and the alarm will reset. Anyone have any tips on how to track down this problem?

Machine did it again. E stop wouldn’t reset it. I bumped into the box fairly hard while walking around the machine to open the panel and made the same sound as when you reset the e stop.

Try http://www.cncsnw.com/ServoLogicPM.htm

What version of CNC7 are you running? The version number is displayed on the F1/Setup screen.

Assuming that there are no other more obvious problems, it could be a fiber optic issue, either one of the fibers, or on of the fiber optic components on the CPU7 or the servo drive. Check that the fibers are not dirty or oily, and by comparison, that there isn't any degradation in the amount of light through the fibers. If possible, direct a fan on the servo drive fiber optics or the CPU7 fiber optics and see if that makes a difference.
