Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
I am using a Haas HRT210 rotary on the right side of the mill table. Also using Inventor HSM. I've run enough jobs to get comfortable with the 3 axis jobs, but have not run any wrapped jobs yet. Just wondered which direction of rotation on the table is standard, or does it even matter? That is, can it be chosen in HSM?
Re: Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
table should rotate in a clockwise direction from zero point with a positive axis command when viewing table surface. is this what you are asking?

Re: Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
Cool, I thought I had it backwards, as positive on my A axis is CCW looking at the top of the table right now. Thanks, Joneg. That'll save me a lot of problems once I start wrapping jobs.
That's a good reference, Tom.

Re: Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
Afraid the more I sit and think about it, I have to ask a follow-up. So I get that with the rotary down flat CW is positive looking at it like looking at an old school turntable. But when doing a job with the rotary standing up, so it rotates axially aligned with the Y axis, does the positive direction change? In other words, it would make a difference with the rotary mounted left side facing right or right side facing left. Is top of the work positive when rotating towards the operator or away from the operator?

Re: Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
Looking from X- to X+ at the face of the rotary, A+ is clockwise. Looking from X+ to X- at the face of the rotary, A+ is clockwise.

Re: Rotary Table Direction of Rotation
So, A+ is always CW looking at the top of the table. That means the work spins opposite directions depending on the side the rotary is mounted. That seems counter-intuitive, but I guess it makes sense. The direction is accounted for by selecting the axis in HSM...sorry, just thinking out loud.
Thanks again...huge help! I've gotta go reverse my rotary direction.
