Can I use this encoder that is already mounted and belted 1:1 on my lathe? The connector is 18mm x 1.0 thread 9 pin.
If someone recognizes the connector please let me know what type it is so I can buy one.

Hello from France !

I have a EQN 1325 by HEIDENHAIN encoder (incremental signal 1Vpp, 2048 lines 8192 positions), not TTL. Is it ok for centroid acorn ? Thanks a lot ;)

You would need to purchase an IBV box from Heidenhain (e.g. IBV100, IBV600, etc.) to convert the 1Vpp signals into TTL differential signals.

It would almost certainly be less expensive to just replace the encoder with one that has a 5V differential output.

From the webpage:

Absolute position values - 8192 (13 bits)

You'll need to verify that is the connector you have, but the wire colors should be correct. As CNCSNW already pointed out, that is a 1V peak to peak analog encoder. You'll need a converter to change that into RS422 differential quadrature signals that Centroid requires. Used ones seem to be around $300 here in the States, so you're better off ditching the Heidenhain encoder.

By the time you purchase the interface and make the adapter calbles, you'd have more money into it than starting with the correct Centroid encoder.

Here a question about M400 system using SD3 drive..
Can we use 2500 ppr (10000) encoder for a AC servo..
Is it reliable for AC servo motor or must need 2048(8192). ?

I have not been able to find any reference to using Absolute encoders in the forums .
looking at buying a pair of Delta A2 drives and servos for a lathe they are available with absolute encoders ?
Just waiting on a price back for them
Is there any plc programming changes to be made to use them ?

SD1 and SD3 need a power of 2 count encoder (2048 or 4096). Speed limit may be an issue with faster motors, which is the reason 4096 was normally only on 3 and 4kW motors.
