GEAR CHANGE M41-M43

Post by cnctc »

Milltronics lathe retrofit with Allin1DC. Machine has low medium high gear ranges. Apparently i need to make custom Macro??

attached page from manual

13.21 M41, M42, M43 - Select Spindle Gear Range (Macros)M41, M42, and M43 have no default actions, and therefore custom macros must be defined for these Mcodes in order to make this feature work. If defined, these macros notify the PLC of which spindle gear range is selected according to the following table:Macro M FuctionActionM41Select Low Gear RangeM42Select Medium-Low Gear RangeM43Select High Gear Range Note that selecting a ”Medium-High” Gear Range is currently not supported by this schema, although that would not prevent a system integrator from defining another custom macro M function to do that.

Please Generate and send us a report. These Macros should be included when you install CNC12 Lathe. Generate a report, and install CNC12 4.14 again.

Maybe they are there I don't know where they are, or how to change them. When i installed my first Allin1DC in 2012 and needed a gear change macro Tech made me one, installed it and also tuned the motors for me. I am fine doing it myself but i have to have some kind of direction please. I am just going off what is in the install manual and operators manual.

Are you only using the macros to change the gear ratios, then via a lever or a switch changing the gearing physically?

Exactly how is this particular machine setup for these gears? Are you using the inputs 13-15?

yes macros to change gear ratios for the frequency drive. Manual lever to change gearbox in headstock. There is no limit switches to indicate the physical location of the lever, so no we are not using inputs 13-15. The mill we have that has 2 speed head has a prompt that comes up to tell us to change to low or high range, this would need to be the same way.

You don't change anything with the Variable frequency drive.
Rather you are telling the control the gear train ration for the selected speeds.
Do you know what the ratios are?
The control merely does the math based on the ratio values you give it.
You could set AUX buttons the the Jog panel for each gear change.

If you have another Centroid controlled machine setup the way you like, then you need to provide the report from that machine.
Have you searched the terms Gear range and Gear Ratio on the Mill or Operator's manual?

cnctc,

The plc needs edited for these m functions to work, as such here is a modified plc that should let you use the m41, m42, and m43 macros you have.

The related parameters for your gear changes would be 65, 66, and 67, this is for m41, m42, and m43 respectively.

Let me know if this worked our for ya.
