Connecting GPIO4D and MPU11 to GSK Servo Drive

Post by sobida »

hi i am new here. i would like to ask an assistance on how to properly connect the GPIO4D and MPU11 board to GSK DA98B servo drive.

We cannot find the -10v to +10v reading on the GPIO4D board, where should we measure it?

what we did was to connect the Encoder phase differential output (A,B,&Z) of the DA98B to the MPU11 encoder, then the analog com and analog out of the GPIO4D board to the analog ground and analog speed instruction of DA98B, the fault of GPIO4D to the alarm of DA98B, and the Enable out of GPIO4D to the servo on of DA98B.

We tried using the Speed signal input and directional signal input and connected it to the +5v of the MPU11 encoder and its ground but we have no success.

the usual error that appears is "Axis X following error" or "Axis X full power without motion"

here is an attachment of the GSK manual.

Hi Sobida,

What software are you running? (Mach or Centroid CNC11?)

If you turn your motors by hand, do the encoders update the DRO positions on the computer screen?

Please post a wiring diagram which depicts all the connections on the drive that you currently have connected between the GPIO4D, the MPU11 and the GSK drive.

we are running on mach3 software

if we connect the "servo on" and the "ground" to a source the encoders update the DRO positions on the screen. however we cannot seem to find the right connection of the servo on and ground to the GPIO4D Axis 1

from page 16 of the DA98B manual Fig 3.4

we connected
DA98B CN1 Encoder of MPU11
27-Pulse Feedback A+ ----> Pin 7
12-Pulse Feedback A- ----> Pin 4
42-Pulse Feedback Z+ ----> Pin 6
28-Pulse Feedback B+ ----> Pin 8
13-Pulse Feedback B- ----> Pin 5
43-Pulse Feedback Z- ----> Pin 3

we tried connecting
DA98B CN1 Encoder of MPU11
29- Directional Signal Input + ----> Pin 9
14- Directional Signal Input - ----> Pin 2

when we get errors we tried changing connections to
DA98B CN1 Encoder of MPU11
30- Speed Signal Input + ----> Pin 9
15- Speed Signal Input - ----> Pin 2

we still get errors we tried other connections
DA98B Encoder of MPU11
40-Speed choice 1 ----> Pin 9
41-Speed choice 2 ----> Pin 2

All the test were done by connecting
DA98B CN1 GPIO4D board
17- Analog Speed Instruction ----> Analog
1 - Analog Grounding ----> Analog Com
5 - Alarm Output ----> Fault In
23-Servo on ----> Enable Out
32- reference earthing ----> Out com

The Ports and pins of Mach 3 were already configured. We cannot get the -10v to +10v reading from GPIO4D board even if it (axis1) is already enabled.

thank you
