Summing Scale Inputs

Post by tblough »

Is it possible to have two scales on an axis and combine them? I.e. a glass scale on a mill quill used for positioning feedback on that axis (Z) and a glass scale on the non-motorized knee acting as a W axis being combined so that moving the knee up or down changes the Z axis position on the DRO.

If that is possible, do both scales have to be the same resolution, or can the quill be 1um and the knee scale be 5um?
Cheers,

Tom
Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.
