Hello All,
I was hoping for some help doing a face groove. I an not sure how to compensate for the tool thickness? How do I set up the tool for the diameter? Do set the tool on the outside diameter that the tool will cut or the inside? and comp for the tool off of that or do I use the Id ???
Thank you in advance,
Travis

Re: face groove
Travis,

For a face groove tool I set X Offset on the OD of the material with the edge of the groove tool that would be cutting the ID diameter of the groove. For the groove if you are using Intercon and the groove insert is the same size as the groove you would use the ID diameter divided by 2 for the Radius Start and End to cut it. If the Insert is smaller than the groove width for the ID diameter you would use the ID diameter divided by 2 for the Radius Start and the OD diameter divided by 2 and subtract the width of the insert off of this values for the Radius end. You can use the larger radius vaule as the start and the smaller as the end. This is up to you which diameter you want to start cutting first.I was hoping for some help doing a face groove. I an not sure how to compensate for the tool thickness? How do I set up the tool for the diameter? Do set the tool on the outside diameter that the tool will cut or the inside? and comp for the tool off of that or do I use the Id ???
