DC3IOB 7 Segment Display: Status and Error Codes

Post by diycncscott »

The DC3IOB features a red, 7 segment LED display which displays the operating status of the DC3IOB system

A steadily lit display of a number indicates a normal operating condition. A flashing number indicates a fault.

Normal Operating Condition
On a 3 axis system, a solid "1" or "0" is used to indicate the axis number of the first physical axis mapped on the DC3IOB. Earlier units were "zero indexed" which means simply that the first axis was mapped as zero, the second axis was mapped as axis 1 and so on... All current versions are "one indexed", which means that the that the first axis is mapped as axis 1, the second axis as axis 2 and so on... NOTE: "zero indexed" and a "one indexed" drives operate identically -Only the status display number denoting the first axis on the DC3IOB is different.

4 Axes+ DC3IOB Systems:
On DC3IOB systems with more than 3 axes, the display may display a solid 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on the number of additional axes installed and their configuration. If a single axis DC1 servo amplifier is installed together with a "one indexed" DC3IOB, the DC1 will be mapped as the first axis and the DC3IOB will display a steady "2". If two DC1 servo amplifiers are installed together with a "one indexed" DC3IOB, the first and second axes will be mapped to the the DC1's and the DC3IOB will display a "3" indicating that the first available axis on the DC3IOB has been mapped as axis 3 (the 2nd and 3rd axes on the DC3IOB will be mapped as axis 4 and axis 5 respectively).

Fault Condition
Flashing "1"
Meaning: Power Failure
Cause: Logic power supply indicating it is operating out of specification
Corrective Action(s):
1. Check power supply wiring, (the grey wire and AC input in particular)
2. An I/O device may be miswired or drawing too much current.
Unplug all I/O headers to see if fault clears. If it does, reconnect I/O
one at a time to isolate the faulty device/wiring.
3. Replace power supply.

Flashing "2"
Meaning: 15A Not Available
Cause Current selection jumpers on any axis are set to 15A, but the drive is not equipped with the appropriate FETs for long term use at 15A.
Corrective Action(s)
1. Select 12A or lower current settings
2. Use a high power DC3IOB

Flashing "3"
Meaning Null Error
Cause The self adjust routine has detected too large an offset on the current feedback.
Corrective Action(s)
1. Send the drive back for repair.

Flashing "4"
Meaning Limit Tripped
Cause Any limit switch is tripped
Corrective Action(s)
1. Confirm switch is wired as normally closed.
2. Move away from the limit
3. Check limit switch wiring.
4. Defeat switch if limit switch is not required
