Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Files S14556.tcw and S14674.tcw were used originally to retrofit the lathe and were left in the cabinets.
I downloaded "Centroid Retrofit of Hardinge Lathe Procedure Manual- Rev 0141104" for reference.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Applied power to the system.
No smoke....no sparks
However the motherboard on the pc is not booting. Fans come on then it reboots. No video signal either.
I have tested the PC prior to all this work I have done so jot sure yet what the cause is.
When power was applied the Allin1dc did power up. The LEDs on the control pendant all flashed 4 times.
I have not done anything to the parameters of the VFD yet.
Keep in mind I also have everything on cable 3 yet to terminate.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Today I will be looking at the CMOS battery on the PC. Could be dead seeing it has been in the garage un-booted for a few years. Will also try powering it with power straight to it without going through the system, as I have done successfully in the past. As long as I am investigating the PC may as well reseat everything. , cables memory cpu etc....

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
TECO Tech from the supplier I bought my VFD from is being slow to respond to my question. Hopefully one of you can help.
When I bought the drive it came with a wire jumper installed on the user terminals. I was not aware it was there until it dropped when I was loosening all the screws for the inputs/outputs terminals. I can find nothing in the documentation for what it is and when it is to be used. The only thing I suspect it could be is where they call out SF/SG connections. only issues is there are not both on the same plane. The jumper looks like it needs to go to something in the same plane. I'll add a pic here soon.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Well looky there....the answer is right in the first pic I took with the terminals in it.
Now why are the instruction manual showing a different layout as to what is on the VFD?

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
I couldn't take it any longer. I hit Run on the VFD. Motor ran.
Was a little loud on the chirping. Then I read thst the motor playe info needed to be entered before starting the motor.
Got that info in the best I could. Read somewhere about the Autotune. Got that ran. Still hearing a chirpping as the motor goes up to speed and on the way down. Not sure the video will capture the sound. Will see if I can get it.
Ran through the group 3 parameters. Think I got them set correct. Still getting a fault on the spindle in Centroid. Could be that I need to complete the wiring harness from the carriage.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Everything seems to be working now. I had to do a factory reset in the VFD and go over the settings. Also moved a few wires once I got a better grasp on what had to go with what.
Spindle works. X and Z both work. Turret indexer works. Collet closer works.
I do need to check the limit switches since I had taken the X axis switches and loosened the rod. Imagine I will have to readjust it.
Next I want to get the 3phase coolant pump working with just single phase and some capacitors. Motor on it is only 1/6 HP so shouldn't take too much to get and keep it going.
Then I can get to putting the shields all back on it.
