Finally getting around to adding limit switches to our machine with a ALLin14DC(old 90's knee mill with custom mounted motors.)
I am following the directions on pg 69 of latest(1-18-24) Centroid ALLin1DC CNC Control Installation Manual(attached)
and it asks me to manual hit the switch and then test that you can move off it ONLY in one direction.
The limit seems to work and it registers on the screen. Immediately can hear the motors shut off the holding current when the switch is hit.
I get a 411 X axis full power without motion. It does not try to move.
If I let go of the switch before trying to move it, I can but in Both directions....
Limit defeats are on for all switches I have not installed yet.
This basically means I will get stuck on my limit switches.
Attached the manual page, my current limit wiring (both 2 limits I have added so far work in the I/O page)
Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual <resolved>

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
Because you needed to set Direction Reversal = Yes on all three axes, you also need to swap the inputs to which you wire the inputs.
Wire the X- limit switch to INP2
Wire the X+ limit switch to INP1
Wire the Y- limit switch to INP4
Wire the Y+ limit switch to INP3
Wire the Z- limit switch to INP6
Wire the Z+ limit switch to INP5
Then change the limit input numbers on the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters table to match: 2 1 2 1 / 4 3 4 3 / 6 5 6 5
Wire the X- limit switch to INP2
Wire the X+ limit switch to INP1
Wire the Y- limit switch to INP4
Wire the Y+ limit switch to INP3
Wire the Z- limit switch to INP6
Wire the Z+ limit switch to INP5
Then change the limit input numbers on the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters table to match: 2 1 2 1 / 4 3 4 3 / 6 5 6 5

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
Direction Reversal was already set on all three axes. That's where I'm stuck, for some reason it's shutting off power to the motors when the limit is hit, so I can't move in reverse, I just get a 411 error. I try to move it in the other direction same thing...
I have a feeling it's not suppose to cut power. It's like some extra e-stop setting is set.

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
when a direction reverse is performed in software the physical wire of the limit/home switches need to be moved to match the direction flip. otherwise when jogging in the positive direction a negative switch input would be tripped.

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
Ok, I noticed something different that I stated before. It throws no error when I indeed try to move it away from the limit, but it's unpowered and doesn't move. I can spin the MPG all I want. Letting go of the limit switch, it immediately has power again.
If I don't let go of the limit, as soon as I spin the MPG the other way aka trying to continue to move towards the switch yields the 411 no movement with full power error.
Interesting enough, the other two axis's still move when -x limit is triggered. But as I said, if I try to go +x, absolutely nothing. -x, 411 error.

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
The reason you need to swap your limit switch connections, is that on an Allin1DC, INP1 - INP6 are current inhibits for their respective axes and directions. This is entirely independent of the software and configuration.
If INP1 is open, the Allin1DC will not apply any current to the X (axis #1) motor in the (internal, native) minus direction.
Since you have selected "Direction Reversed", your logical "plus" direction (move the tool to the right) is in fact the internal minus direction.
Therefore, you have to wire your X+ limit switch to INP1, and set the input numbers on the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters table to match.

Re: Can't move off limit per instructions in installation manual
Thank you it works now. I would have never figured that out unless I got lucky.
Lol is this a feature or a bug....
Going to wire out the rest of the limits now.
