Z-axis brake hookup help
I've got a milltronics partner that I'm doing an allinonedc retrofit to and I'm a little lost as to how to hook up the two wire brake that comes from z axis servo. Machine is counterbalanced, but I'd still like to hook up the brake if possible. I've included some pics of my servo. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys! Thank you!

I just did the same retro last year.
I left the brake just as they had it wired into the contactor.
Output 1 on the allin1 goes to the contactor in series with the Estop switch circuit.
It should have 2 contactors.1 for the VFD and the other for the 120VAC circuits. I paralleled both contactors from the same output 1.
When you hit the reset or the estop it will kill the power to the AC to DC rectifier circuit board for the servos and also kill the power to the small round disk looking rectifier that should be on the terminal block.
I am attaching a picture. It is on the left side of the terminal block about half way down. That puts out the 90 VDC to unlock the brake.

I've wired up the two brake wires numerous ways, even coming directly off my cap. I know I'm feeding 90v to the thing, but it's still not working. I can't seem to figure this one out today lol

Does your terminal block have the small round rectifier like mine does on the left side a little more than half way down?
That is the AC/DC rectifier. It gets 110v AC in from terminals 57 and 2. It is switched on by the contactor.
It puts out 90v DC on terminals 63 and 64. The way the brake works is ,no power/ on-locked....power to it /un-locked.. free to turn.
Hooking it up to the caps would give it 150v DC which more than likely will cook it.
I am attaching the factory schematic so you can see it clearer.
Also with those SEM motors even though I had red to red and black to black, when it came time for hookup to the allin1 they needed to be reversed at the control.. black to + /red to -.

Finally got it to work.
Can you tell me what your motor values from the software?
My z axis motor is really struggling to move the head up and down.

You need to run auto tune for each axis on your own machine.

Is the Z motor load low (negligible) if you uncouple the motor from the ballscrew, and just jog the free motor?
That would tell you whether the brake is actually releasing or not.

Ok, what is involved in running an auto tune?
And yes. Motor spins fine when unbelted, so I know the brake is releasing. I've loosened up the gibs to try to coax the z axis into moving a little easier. It has helped, but my z axis motor is still drawing around 2.5A, while the x and y only draw about 0.5A.
