Got a bit more done on my line power and distribution. I added a 10x10 enclosure to the side of the existing controls cabinet. The existing is odd shaped as it wrap under the machine. Wanted more space and felt the line voltage made sense to separate. Waiting on T1 transformer and new estop. We are also making new brackets for the drives as the new ones are significantly smaller than original despite being same power.

Question regarding the limit switches for each axis. The Oak has inputs for x+, x-…..My existing switches run on the gantry and trip when they reach the stop. So I only get a loss of continuity from one switch for both limits. My assumption is I just go into the x+, y+,x+ port on the board and may need to tweak something in the programming?

Thanks for the input. Jim

I would encourage you to upgrade and add switches to each end of each axis.
Otherwise choose an end and rely on soft limits for the other end.

Thanks Marty. I guess I would make switches stationary in that case. Appreciate your advice

Marty,

Watching your video of the x axis brake raises a question. The brake in this machine is run on 90 volts dc which seems unique? Can I still use the oak relay to control that. Not sure of the rating? Thanks for all the help.

Yes, you'll need the 90VDC power supply and a contactor.

I would run the 90VDC through an external relay or contactor, and use the Oak output relay to control its coil.

Alternately, you can use the Oak output relay to switch the AC supply to the rectifier which makes 90VDC for the brake.

Ok thank you. I have some relays that were on the machine originally. Maybe I will recreate that set up.

Remember to add a Quencharc across EVERY contactor and any other coil of wire operated by a relay (fan, solenoid, etc).
Cheers,

Tom

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.
