Most of all Thanks to cncKeith for all the followup! Time to ORder!

Trying to understand the backshaft setup and what the small brush / commutator Pcb is doing? I think it's power for the Servo, but who really knows? Wondering if I can remove that if someone has some experience. Cannot find any info on the backside of this Drive. Getting close. PICS are on the thread below

remove the resolver/tach down to bare shaft, measure shaft, purchase encoder with same diameter hole, drill tap two mounting holes, mount new encoder, connect connector to cable. done. here is link to photo album showing a different more complicated encoder install.. i think you will get the idea.
