Gang tooling question

Post by galyion »

Currently i am using a qctp with normal tool holders. i was going to add a gang block also. is there a way to suppress the popup for certain tools and not others. i saw there was a setting for gang tooling but i don't think that will work.

Hello,

The option for turning on gang tooling allows for in the Tool Offset menu to toggle the APPROACH from front or back depending on which way the tool is approaching the material in the X direction.

Not sure what you mean by "is there a way to suppress the popup for certain tools and not others."

thanks for the reply. i had to scrap the project as my through spindle was not big enough to run the job.

What i wanted it to do was. stop and prompt to change to tool 1, prompt for tool 2, do not stop or prompt for tool 3 & 4. then end.

i was going to be loading a gang block with tools 2,3,4, in it. so i didnt want it to stop and ask me to change tools when it just needed to change offsets.

Fyi..You can do a tool change without cnc12 stopping and asking you to press cycle start. :D

Hello,

I am sorry, I posted a reply a week ago and with traveling the last 2 weeks I just realized it did not show up.

With using the tool post you will use a different tool location (station) for each tool in it. example T0101, T0202. For the gang tooling you would do the same thing if you wanted to stop at each tool. For the tools that you did not want it to stop at you would use the tool location (station) of the previous tool with a different offset. Example last tool to stop at is T0303. The next 2 tools you do not want to stop at use T0304, T0305. Next tool you want to stop at use T0606. The examples just counted up using the next tool location. You can use the tool locations in any order you want.

With using gang tooling you want to make sure you set up for gang tooling option. Then when setting the tools you will be able to select whether the tool is approaching from front of the material or the rear of the material.

Hello,

To set up for gang tooling at this time Wizard does not have a setting. From the the main screen in Acorn CNC12 Press F1 - Setup, F3 - Config, enter pass word, Press F3 - Params. Page down to were you can see parameter 163. Change parameter 163 for gang tooling to 1 for yes. F10 Save. Now in the tool offset library you can change the Approach to match the direction the tool is approaching the material.
