These can be purchased from a number of sources. Amazon is my favorite place because I can get them in a couple days most times. Just search for DB25 Male breakout board or DB9 Male breakout board.

DB25 male breakout boards for connecting drives with 5VDC logic (which should be connected to the DB25:

DB9 male breakout board with hood for the encoder port if you don't want to try and use solder cups or crimp pins:

(you should tin the wires with a bit of solder so the screw terminal does not crush the wire and break it. This can cause you grief)

search amazon.

Hey Marty,
I ordered this one from Amazon:
https://smile.amazon.com/Connector-Adap ... pons&psc=1
When I got it, I discovered the long attachment screws do not freely go through the base plate, but in fact screw into that base plate. So you can't really snug the female side up to this male unit. The screw threads do protrude through the base, but all you can do is hold the female side in place, but not pull it snug up against the male. I hope this makes sense.
Did the one(s) you bought work the same way? Did that work out OK?
Thanks
Gary

Gary - you got one of the special Chineseum breakout boards! Just drill out the threaded inserts on the connector housing to clear the screw thread.

I wanted to follow up on my previous post. I went ahead and installed my DB-9 adapter on a Gecko G540 empty port. I was surprised that it was actually more secure and snugged up against the female side firmly. But you do have to push the two together while you tighten the screws, which is a little different than the traditional DB-9 connectors.
Hope this helps someone.
Gary
