My encoder had a smoking habit. I need another, or if I find detailed pictures of one I may be able to round up enough info to fix it. I don't know if the CHNC1 is the same or not, but looking at that may be help also.
Thanks

Check out this buildhttps://www.cnczone.com/forums/south-be ... cnc-2.html It's long but I believe he addressed the turret encoder

As near as I can tell he built one to work with his system? I left a message for him and a couple others there to see if they can give me some pointers. Thanks.

I'm in the process of rebuilding a Hardinge CHNC4. Current status is I verified that the spindle and axes could move, tested the collet closer, got the turret to spin..most of the previous Centroid system has been removed...Ordered a new Allin1dc and connected the servos, and they can move under control - there is still a bunch of work to do but I'm out of the country until November.

If you get into the turret encoder I'd love to see pics and figure out how close it is to mine.

When I get back home I can take a closer look. I have this. https://photos.app.goo.gl/reyH3Jttf32pz3Ne6 a video showing the turret moving and the encoder is visible

Today (2/13/24) I plan on opening up the cover over the encoder for the turret and see if I get any response from the encoder.
