After a hundred or so, I found out how to make them neat, along with make them run!

Gary,

I have the robotics team at my sons' school building their own router. I plan to use Teknic drives for their accuracy and integration ease. In your conversion using dual Teknic drives for the Y-Axis, what technique did you use to tune them given the autotune feature cannot work with paired drives?

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike...
Fortunately I worked with the Teknic Engineers in my former R & D and Production position with an OEM and picked up a few tricks. Here are the bullet points:

Tune Z, save profile
Tune X, save profile
Add 60% of the weight difference between X car and gantry. Here in the UP I use "sand sausages"
Save that profile and install into both Y motors
Make a file that runs Y axis full length at varying feeds and rapids back and forth.
Monitor with 2 laptops & long cables to fine tune.

Gary,

Many thanks for the input. May I ask what you are looking for when fine tuning. Are you talking about the fine tune feature in the Teknic software?

May I ask what you are looking for when fine tuning. Smooth, quick acceleration, plus in and out of arcs. You know it when you see it???

Are you talking about the fine tune feature in the Teknic software? Yes

For PRT users, we also have gearbox adapters for both NEMA23 and NEMA34 gearboxes. Here is a couple shots of the latest batch off the mill:
