If your drives are 45khtz max, you should reduce the step pulse frequency even farther. The step pulse frequency sets the width (in usec) of the step pulse. For each pulse you will have an equal or greater (depending on speed) void between pulses. For example, at 100khtz this calculates to 1,000,000 / (2 * Step rate or 100,000) = 5us pulse width. Your drive specs should state what the minimum pulse width is.
If it is stated in the specs, double that number and divide it into a million to see what your MAX step rate should be.
FYI, there are other lower step rates available by setting parameters than the wizard displays
