Axis parameter, writing wrong info

Post by rguertin »

I'm using an Acorn Six controller running software v5.08. Everything has been working great until today when I decided to test my new VCP. I went to the wizard and installed the VCP name, hit the save button in the Wizard, recycled everything as required. Brought up CNC12 and everything is working well except for the axis stops, they're non existent. I've got solid state homing switches installed and they work well.
I go to the wizard and check my axis configuration and the steps/revolution have changed -999.9 across the board. I check my software travel limits and they changed to -999.9. I went to the setup menu on CNC12 and the machine configuration the settings for jog and motor control had changed also to -999.9. Playing around with this I concluded that CNC12 does not read the setup parameters correctly, so if you use the wizard to change something and save it to the controller, garbage gets written into those parameters.

well that is not true otherwise i'd have more than one person screaming at me. :D ;)

sounds like you have a corrupted file on your pc?
or maybe you found a wizard bug? what where you doing just before the issue came about?
what is different about the new vcp you created?

do you have a good report.zip from when the machine was configured and running properly? or a copy of the cncm folder?

if so restore report (or rename/copy the backup cncm folder over) and see if you can get the issue to happen again, can we repeat this?

cnckeith, this showed it's ugly head when I upgraded to version 5.08. I noticed that my travel limits were on and of, meaning they worked sometimes but not always. Axis 2 and 4 are paired electrically, one drive operating both steppers, never had a problem with that setup. The ethernet error, never got that before installeing 5.08. I reinstalled the previous VCP that I was using, it's one that came with the software v5.08 I'm probably going to install version 5.06 again.

hello.

the ethernet communication errors have nothing to do with cnc12 version numbers. solve them first. there is nothing wrong with v5.08.
