Screw Comp Not Working / Saving (Comp is enabled)

Post by killacam »

Hey All -

I think I'm going crazy - I can't get my Y axis to show any changes when I save distance travel adjustments. The data will save and write to the adjustments screen but with the actual movement of the axis nothing changes, it keep repeating the error. The X axis works fine and I was able to make all the corrections I needed but the Y axis wont actually save my changes.

I have enabled screw comp in the motor config screen and I have done the standard process. (thinking about this after I wrote everything - I wonder if the file doesnt say "Y" but the screen does and that is causing my issues - will check tomorrow)

I dont have any images today but I may get some tomorrow.

Also at one point I did have an issue with travel limits not matching - I dont remember if it was for Y or X. I went into the CNC-__.tab file and removed all the extra travel I didnt need.

I have a feeling this issue is caused by some backend file not being correct - but IDK

any thoughts ?

I have a video uploading to youtube right now that I'll put the link here once its complete - but what I have found is that if I put the correction value in the next row down it'll work .... as in

if you are working on 0.0 > 0.5 instead of putting the variance in the row for 0.5 put it in 1 and it will impact 0.5.

The video has 1 hour ish remaining

thanks for posting the video, i'll take a look at the video later today, in the meantime please post a report.zip so we can see and use your setup.
how much backlash does this machine have on each axis?
have you seen uwe's and alan's setup / test videos? on this thread

the backlash isnt great - I am using lead screws vs ball screws - but I dont think hardware is my issue - as the software fields are not responding only for one axis.

see my report attached

But overall i have sorta moved on by just shifting down my compensation to the next interval and it will change the prior interval ( hopefully the video makes sense )

Yeah i watched all the vids on how to do this - my x axis is complete its more of why do i have to put my 0 to 0.5 compensation in the 1.5in section to get it to impact the .5 compensation. everything is shifted down one rown to have an impact on the row above
