Z Axis lost control with VCP and WMPG-4

Post by Exhibitology »

Greetings,

Our Multicam MG CNC router has been productively controlled by an Acorn board for the last 3 years. Last week I restarted it but after homing, the Z axis would not move using the wireless WMPG-4 or the VCP. I could only get movement using MDI. The X and Y axis were also demonstrating issues. They would only move at slow speed. Again, MDI, provided normal movement.

I first thought the issue might be the WMPG-4. A year ago I had a WMPG-4 fail and require replacement. I replaced the batteries to no effect. I then swopped it out with another working WMPG-4 from another machine. Still nothing.

The problem started after upgrading to CNC12 v5.06. I replaced the cncm file with its former CNC12 V4 versions. Still no solution.

Finally I changed out the entire Acorn board from another machine. This worked. All behavior is now normal. This is with CNC12 V5.08.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?

The report was made when I was in the process of diagnosing the problem.

I didn't have a problem with my set up. The machine worked fastastic for 3 years. Worked well after upgrading to V5.06.

One morning control of the Z axis with the VCP or WMPG-4 stopped.

Sorry for my slow responses. We've been on site on an installation for the last two weeks.

I did a fresh install and rebuilt the system from Wizard PDFs I printed and I rebuilt my VCP using buttons and HTML files used previously.

v5.06 worked for a month or so before this issue occured.

Now that I'm back in the shop, I will reinstall the Acorn board that failed to see if the issue returns on it with v5.08.
