Dear CncKeith,

Could you tell me if Acorn can be configure it with closed loop system?

Regards!

Acorn cannot do closed loop position control. Acorn can operate in a Hybrid Closed loop setup. It can give motion commands to closed loop drives and those will move according to the steps received from Acorn. The Acorn cannot get position feedback so it relies on the drive to send an alarm signal if there is a positioning issue.

AcornSix can read linear scales/encoders to provide position feedback in conjunction with the drive alarm signals. How effective this is depends heavily on the resolution of the linear encoders.

Oak and Hickory are fully closed loop and utilize the motor encoder positions reported by the servo drives. They can use linear scales for additional feedback but this is not typically necessary.

Thanks for your prompt response, it is clear that it is not possible to use the Acorn controller for the project because it does not work with a closed loop system and is designed for other purposes.
The Oak and Hickory drivers are designed to operate in a closed loop system and this is where we will focus.

OAK : We were talking about this cntroller may be an option for the app (Tangential Knife) but there is no wizard yet, you mentioned you have documentation in the works but it will be complicated. Is this information correct as I understand it?

Hickory : This is more realiable than OAK controller, Iam undertood this is because there is a wizard for configuration that makes less complications.

I would like to know also if this already tested with DELTA?

Regards!

acorn can run in a Hybrid closed loop setup. the drives close the loop not Acorn.
that is why i suggested using AC servo motors and drives, they close the loop. :D

we are just about to start testing Hickory with the Delta A3 drive. previous delta ethercat drives did not work, we are hoping this new drive will work.

cutting speed? yes of course, there are several ways that work on conjunction.
Feedrate override knob
Feedrate override on MPG wheel.
Feedrate override on VCP control panel

Thank you so much,
Could you tell me which application I should choose based on the video you saw last Tuesday?

When i select OAK controller there are 2 options as Mill/Lathe.... I beleave in this case will be Mill, Correct?
When i select Hickori controller there are more options, Mill/Lathe/Ruter.... I do not know if will be Mill or Router.

For that reason i would like to know what option is better accoding the application..Mill or Router..becase the application it seems similar.

Thank you again!!

The difference between mill and router is the buttons and functions displayed on the Virtual Control Panel. The program is identical, and the VCP is fully customizable. It will not make a difference on which you choose as I suspect you will want to customize the VCP to fit your application anyway.
Cheers,

We have some connector boards for those servos that I think should simplify your wiring:
