Input to jog axis

Post by offlanders »

I'm in the process of retro-ing another Tree Journeyman 425 and came across a question from the guy I'm helping...

Is it possible to emulate the old controllers, three bi-direction toggle switches that will jog the XYZ axis forward or back?

I know the MPG and touch screen interface have jog buttons. Is it possible to make several of the inputs on the Acorn board a jog axis either direction?
Thanks,

You can do keyboard jogging easily with the arrow keys and page up/dn. It can be set to come on all the time in the wizard. I'm sure there are other ways around it but that is easy and built in. A programmable keypad should accomplish the same thing, but I have not tried one.

Yes, you can wire buttons or switches or joysticks or whatever to Acorn PLC inputs, and use them for axis jogging.

You will probably need to add them into the PLC program yourself, but that is one of the more trivial PLC programming tasks.

Finding six available inputs on a typical Acorn installation may be a bigger challenge.
