Wow. Thanks again for all the good info.
I will do some more testing and see if I can fine tune the system.
The ClearPath motors I am using are:
X and Y axis -- CPM-SDSK-2331S-RLN
Z Axis -- CPM-SDSK-2311S-RQN
A Axis (rotary) -- CPM-SDSK-2311S-EQN
After a few tweaks yesterday I was able to get it to perfom well.
This weekend I will be working with the new suggestions and I need to see if there is a way to jog faster. At x100 it still seems a bit slow.
Thanks for all your input and links. I have a lot of work to do now.
Need travel consistency but its not working as expected <800 steps per rev too low>

always post a fresh report.zip so we can see where you are at.hivoltage wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 11:28 am Wow. Thanks again for all the good info.

No matter what motor you are using start no less than 1600. With Clearpath I always start at 3200 no matter what Clearpath I choose.hivoltage wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 11:28 am Wow. Thanks again for all the good info.

Re: Need travel consistency but its not working as expected <800 steps per rev too low>
Ok I took the suggestion of using 6400 for the setting steps per rev
The system now runs fast and smooth.
It is pretty good on the travel when I command a 300mm travel using a engineering ruler.
I will post a report soon. Just need to figure out how to set the X and Y zero as its much different than I was used to before.
I do not have one of those edge finders. I have a Zero block that you use to locate the corner with an offset. The block sits over the corner and the edge is about 13mm away from the actual part edge.
Then after that I need to work on lubrication. Since my parts are exposed meaning they do not have any sort of cover it was said to use a more liquid type of lube rather than the lithium grease that others say.
So many people saying this or that. Its confusing as to what I should use. I am not a lubrication expert. :/
I do have a lubrication spray that I used on my other system and it seemed to work very good. I will get a screenshot of the can soon.
Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.

lube for what? rails? screws? follow the manufacture recommendations. do not use plain jane grease on anything.
if no mfg recommendations, then white lithium grease (not the stuff in a spray can) for ballscrew and rails works.

Re: Need travel consistency but its not working as expected <800 steps per rev too low>
@cnckeith
I have already lubed the rails and ballscrews with white lithium grease that you get in the small tubes.
What I read was that the lube recomended by others (bulkman3d and others) state that the grease can retain particles.
I am not a machinest or expert in lubrication. I just wanted to knwo what the more experienced people use in a similar situation as I have.
I am working with exposed rails and ballscrews on my system in a garage space. The garage will have some wood dust floating around due to sawing and using a router.
So I am just wanting to use what is proper for my setup.
Thanks.

sounds like you got it, white lithium is the way to go in your case.

The system is working perfect and I am able to get consistent results when asking the system to travel any distance.

right on, thanks for reporting back, post some part photos or cutting action sometime we'd all like to see it.
