Rt Hand Boring Bar Rear approach machine

Post by Clausing2020 »

Hi Guys is there any way to set up the software to bore with a Right hand boring bar on a rear approach machine. The boring programs always write to go in the positive direction. I have left hand bars to do it he way it writes it. I have more Right hand bars. Do I have to Flip the Bars??? Is that the only way??

11.3.121 Parameter 163 – Gang Tooling
This parameter enables the tool library to select front-mount or back-mount tool approach for gang tooling. If set to 1,
you can measure both front-mount and back-mount tooling.

Yes I did see that. Now that’s good to know for auto tool set up. What I’m trying to do is run a Rt hand bar but the x axis will move in the wrong direction. Boring programs are written to go in the positive direction. The tool would have to go in the negative direction.

If you want to use both directions you must do this in the g-code with -x +x

Are you using Fusion 360 to generate the g code? If so, you need to select the correct turret parameter for each tool in the tool library (in the "post" tab). In mine, that is "101" from memory. My lathe also has rear tool and also spins clockwise.

Ok guys I got it. I also have Kipware T for doing my programming and on the page where it creates the G Code it has a spot to Reverse X axis Coordinates. Then when you set the x axis for the tool you have to put - in front of the number. Works Great
