I built my machine and installed Automation direct switches that are NPN NC and everything was going fine they test ok and checked them in the system and triggered each one independently and they worked fine. Til the next day I went out and they wouldn't work I checked the diagnostic screen again and they would indicate that they were not working but in checking the switches the light would go out when a screwdriver was in close proximity to make the switch activate. So, I kind of stumped attached is photo of the type of switch.
TIA
Joe

My psychic powers tell me that you forced the input(s) on or off, then forgot to restore normal operation.
In the event that my psychic powers have failed us, you could perhaps post a Report and a picture of the inputs section of your Acorn board showing the wire connections and the red and green LEDs for the inputs; and you could tell us how you have the sensors wired (i.e. to independent inputs, or multiple in series to one input); and you could tell us what you see on the Alt-i screen; and you could tell us what "not working" means: does the PLC input fail to close when the sensor is not tripped? Or does the PLC input fail to open when the sensor is tripped?

Re: new here
when i trip switch with an screw driver the light goes out like it sensing a metal object on the switch but it does not trip the light on the diagnostic board to go from green to black. they are wire in series with all brown wires going to wiring in to the 24 volt circuit

Re: new here
I just tried homing the machine again and the Z axis homes fine but the x wants to run past the switch and hit the hard stop. So, I have hit the Estop before I let hit the hard stop Is there something I am missing when trying to do this?

Re: new here
Hello Joe,
I would strongly recommend posting a current report from your control. Here's how: https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=943
It is hard to tell exactly what is going on from your photos. If you don't have the bandwidth for uploading higher resolution images then the report would let us see your force and invert settings and other relevant things.
This is the point where I would try drawing a diagram following the wires and connections as they are. It's a good way to catch wiring mistakes since you can compare what you were trying to do with what you actually did...

Re: new here
Joe, please post a fresh report.zip so we can see your current cnc control configuration.
and please make an online photo album of your project and put all photos in that one album and post link to the album in your posts. etc..
this will get us the information needed to help you out!
how to do all this is here. https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1043
review these docs related to limit switch and input diagnostic tools

Re: new here
Here is the most recent report from the controller and I did go and test each individual switch and the 2 other switches that are wired in series do work!

Re: new here
I seem to recall another recent thread, once again beating the proximity-sensors-in-series horse to death, in which a wise person concluded with something like this:
- Sometimes they work
- Sometimes they don't
- If you want it to work predictably and reliably, use each prox sensor to operate a relay, then wire those relays in series to your input.
