I recently updated my mill to CNC12 5.06 No Problems other than Contour Digitising
All probing cycles are working as expected.
I calibrated my probe using a 25 mm Ring Gauge and tested the following cycles:
Bores, Boss, Slot, Web, Inside and Outside corner etc all fine.
I want to route out a panel to fit an RV door lock
Part is mounted on a 3-4-5 block an centred at the middle of the part.
X length is around 150mm Y around 50mm.
Prob set below top surface ready to start contour
Cycle Start pressed and after about 10 probe contacts, probing stopped and error TRAVEL OUTSIDE GRID appeared.
I tried making patch lengths larger but still gives same error.
After 3 or 4 attempts with Cam and Wall, I quit.
What have missed?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Here are some images from CNC PC screen during process.

probe is trying to move outside the patch size specified, increase patch size that it can operate it

Just as an experiment, you might try starting in a different quadrant; or maybe starting a few mm to the plus or minus side of Y zero.

Hello CNCSNW
I tried starting in in the lower left quadrant positioned as you said - no joy.
Next upper left quadrant - still not working
Tried all 4 quadrants to no avail.
increased the patch size as Keith suggested his reply - no luck here either
The only thing I haven't tried is reducing the step size.
I have CNC12 Mill Pro software so only have digitising 2500 points to work with so used a 2mm step.

Hello Keith,
Thanks for the idea - I will increase patch to 200mm in X and 80mm in Y
Just going out to my shop to try this out.

Re: Digitising Issues CNC12 5.06
PROBLEM RESOLVED
None of the suggested fixes worked...
However, by reducing the Axis Step, I was able to successfully probe the contour.
My original step value was set to 2mm - in desperation I reduced it to 0.5mm and the contour digitise worked fine.
To speed up the process the Axis Step was increased until I was able to repeat the original problem.
At a an Axis Step setting of 1.95mm no problem, at 2mm error was back.
So real world terms problem solved!
It does not seem logical that the Axis Step value should produce an error related to Patch size.
Thanks for suggestions anyway - they led me to a solution in the end.
