Hi y'all,
my lathe is fitted with a GE VAT2000 vfd (part of the original Fanuc system)and whilst I have read the manual several times I'm still not quite sure how to connect this to the acorn.
Does anyone have experience with this model?
Its the control side of things that has me confused, the output to the motor is already good to go(that is, I haven't fiddled with it)
Any help greatly appreciated!

The wires are attached here to many terminals that I can't work out,for the life of me, what they do. Section 2-8 to 2-10 in the manual shows the terminal layout.
If anyone knows how fanuc likes to control speed it would start to make more sense potentially. The original os was fanuc beta

Looks like FSV and COM are your 0-10VDC and 1-10VDC COM respectively. RUN is your spin forward, PSI1 is spin reverse by default. Is there anything else on the VFD you plan to control? Are you following any specific Acorn schematic?

Thanks Domenic, I had sort of figured that out about the inputs you mentioned, it's more the parameters in the manual that I'm worried about, also the fact that there is extra wiring going into the control terminal that aren't associated with the standard speed control you have mentioned.
The machine has an electric motor brake and I don't know if the vfd controls when it engages or does the system have a kind of ramp down magnetic field braking to stop the spindle.
Also what voltage does the run/reverse signal want?
Maybe I need to re-read the manual another time or two to get my head around this all.
If only I had taken notes on it's operation when the fanuc system was working, but I wasn't to know it would die on me when it did.
Live and learn I guess.
I have some electrical schematics for the control box layout but I'll need to get a buddy to check that I have decifered them properly before installing the acorn and powering it up.
