WMPG6 Controller issues < usb ports , don't use power save or sleep >

Post by ShawnAgne »

Hello,
Posted back this summer I was having issues with my WMPG6, it didn't work, magically started working, then quit. Well I attributed this to the PC I was using as it was a late 90s Pentium machine.
Since then I bought a miniPC and got everything up and running.
Everything was running great today, the WMPG6 was working beautifully. Went inside the house came back out computer had gone asleep. Woke it up.
Well the WMPG6 wouldn't respond anymore and wouldn't work. Tried rebooting and started getting the wireless controller is set but not detected message. I restarted the computer. Then I powered it off and powered it back on and no luck.

If I unplug the transmitter the WMPG says RF lost. So this tells me it is seeing the transmitter but the PC isn't talking to it.
I did notice in settings it says it is an unkonwn device and it was giving me these error messages AFTER it quit working.
Is there a windows driver for the WMPG? To me it seems like this is the issue, but doesn't explain why it was working and then just quit. I have it plugged in the blue USB port on the mini pc.

I've attached the log. Would really like to get this working.
Thanks in advance.

It is blank it just shows the antenna strength icon and the battery icon. If I unhook it says lost RF signal. While it was working yesterday it had X,Y,Z,A and all the numbers moved etc.

blank with antenna good and battery = cnc12 not connecting to it
double check the wizard that you have wmpg-6 selected.
power down cnc12 and then CNCPC and move the USB connector to a different port.
power PC back up, start cnc12 normally

Ok I will do that. The other thing is it did have selected to power of USB ports to save power. This may have been the case when I lost connection as the PC had gone to sleep. I since turned that off.
I"ll check but wouldn't the wizzard have to have wmpg-6 selected for it to have initially worked?

Ok, here is what I did
Ran the PC tunner per the instructions, then went and did steps 2 and 3. Restarted the computer.
Turned on the CNC computer, then started CNC 12, WMPG6 was on.
When CNC booted said WMPG is selected but not detected. Repeated the process still no joy.
When I swapped USB ports windows told me it didn't recognize the device.

My shop isn't the best heated, could it be as simple as the batteries? When I was using it yesterday and it was working I had heated it for awhile. When I came back out the heat had been off and it was colder.

Kind of frustrating since it was working and now isn't.

Edit- I didn't do the notebook thing as didn't see where that was part of my issue.
