DId some more testing today and made my first cuts with the new machine! I found a possible issue or maybe I did not configure something correctly. All of the limit switches work except the one on the slaved Y axis that is wired to a seperate input. I did set it to input 2 which is what it is wired to, it works fine for homing. Since the master Y axis has functioning limits everything works fine , so long as both axis stay linked. I

right on, nice photo.
do you purposefully have display and machine units different?

DRO display units: Inches
Machine units: Millimeters

Yes for now the machine units are set to inches for my stubbornness in going metric, the machine is has metric screws so setup was easy to do in mm. Going on 30 years of running machines in inches is hard to get away from. I see that tool table stays in mm even when setting the display to inch so I have to figure out if I am going to stick it out and go metric on this machine or revert to inches.

you can run metric screws but still have the machine in inches.

Go ahead and change the machine units to inches. It will convert everything over automatically. There have been issues in the past with having display and machine units different.

It seems like every other job I do switched to the opposite of what my machine is set to. I just switch them both to the units I'm currently working with. Been doing it that way for 10 years without problems
Cheers,

Tom

Looks like I was using half of this tip, Thanks for sharing that, it will make life much easier.

I changed the machine units and display units to inches an it broke broke my custom park and y axis homing. The park was done in mm units and was easy enough to change. The values for the automatic axis squaring did not update in the wizard and in cnc12 so home speeds where way too fast and crashed the machine into the hard stops. Fortunately no damage was done but it look like at least with slaved y motors and auto squaring turned on you can not freely switch both of these units unless I ma missing some a step.

Whenever you hard code a value in a program, I explicitly call out G20 or G21.

exactly, you have to let CNC12 know that your numbers in the g code/macros are MM or inches

I learned this lesson the hard way, what caught me by surprise is the home macro as I just used the wizard and it worked without having to do any edits. The park macro I did edit on my own and that is totally on me. Still learning, but I am way happier with Centroid than I was using Linux CNC.
