homing travels in wrong direction

Post by billybobron »

My machine has sat for several weeks while I worked on other issues, then went to run a cut today and tried homing machine and found it running in the opposite direction, I went into the wizard and checked the settings and nothing had changed, I tied a few more times with the same outcome, I then went into the wizard and reversed the direction and nothing changed!! I then went back into the wizard and changed back to original with the no difference in movement!!! attached are a couple of reports one from a while back and todays for reference.

Check the connections between the Acorn, stepper driver, and stepper. Maybe the direction signal became disconnected.

Does "runs home in opposite direction" mean that it starts out moving plus if commanded (via M91) to move minus; and starts out moving minus if commanded (via M92) to move plus?

Or does it mean that the axis tries to find home in the direction opposite what you are accustomed to it doing?

Which axis or axes are affected?

You can test each of your axes homing independently using the F3/MDI prompt. For example:

Code: Select all

M92/Z L1 ; home Z in the plus direction
M91/X L1 ; home X in the minus direction
M91/Y L1 ; home Y in the minus direction
You can run those codes in any order, at any time, and it should move the specified axis to home in the specified direction. On your machine, it appears that homing will only work for Z+ (M92/Z L1); X- (M91/X L1); and Y- (M91/Y L1).

On the Alt-i display, with all axes well away from their home switches, is INP1 red, or green?

I have not checked all that you mention being a new user to this software!! it has only moved in the opposite direction!! Even when changing it in the wizard to home in the opposite direction it still ran in the wrong direction!! I thought I had stated that in the first post!!! Tomorrow I will try what you posted and comeback here and post the results!!! Oh and the only Axis i let run was the X and hit the e stop before running into the waste board!!
