Biesse Rover 13 - looking for advice

Post by Joern Markset »

So I recently bought an older Biesse Rover 13. Previous owner used it as a plain router, but gave it all up due to post processor issues. He removed the spindle and vfd as he needed a more powerfull spindle on another machine.
I want to remove all the boring and cutting equipment and rebuild it as a plain router.
It will not be used profesionally, but as a project for a makerspace Iˋm running.

It has Yaskawa USAGED servos and Yaskawa CACR-SR servodrives.
Now from what I have found out the CACR-SR drives does not accept step/direction but analog input.
As far as I know Acorn can not be used for this purpose unless there is some add on boards that will fix the issue. Am I right?
I found a post on this forum stating that an OAK board with GPIO4 will do the trick regarding CACR-SR drives. Anyone who can elaborate on this matter?
Another Solution I have concidered is to rip everything out and put in stepper motors, then use one my Acorn boards.

Cheers
Jørn
