New KP3 Probe Setup Problem <issue resolved.>
I ordered a KP3 probe from CNC4PC. I installed according to the schematic and instructions with black to com, red to 6, white to 7. I went into the configuration and set input definitions for 6 as probedetected and 7 probetripped. I set probe type to KP3. Everything rebooted. As per the instructions I went and choose the boring routine. It sees the probe detected but when I move the stylus it does not trip the probe. Any kind of test I can do with a DMM to test this probe?

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
Does the red light on the probe body turn red when you trip the probe? That should work fine if the wiring is correct.
When I've had problems like this it has been related to how the Inputs were set to NO or NC. Hit Alt-i (PLC Diagnostic App) and observe whether the input virtual LED is triggered, and check to see what happens if you cycle through Ctrl-Alt-i to vary NO/NC state.

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
The red probe does not light up, ever. I tried inverting the input as well with no affect. I did test continuity on the jack to the wires and that checks good.

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
You can test with a DMM if contact opens when the probe trips, between blk and white

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
I'll post a fresh report tonight when I get home. I emailed cnc4pc about the problem since that's who I ordered it from. They responded immediately asking for pics of the wiring and screen shots of the configuration. I sent those back and now get radio silence. I've emailed twice to follow up with no response.

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
Here is a report file.
Just looking at the controller with the cable wired in, input 6 is red and 7 is green. If I short tip to sleeve 6 goes green. If I short tip to ring, 6 goes green. If I short ring to sleeve, nothing changes.

Re: New KP3 Probe Setup Problem
Ok, i think I may have solved the mystery. I disconnected the flying leads from the controller and tested the continuity. The red lead has continuity to the tip. The white lead has continuity to the ring and the sleeve. The black lead has continuity to the ring and the sleeve. It shouldn't be that way, correct?
