Abouit a week ago I donloaded, installed and run CNC PC Tuner. After running the app and completing the PC configuration, and CNC 12 wizard, the PC would not shutdown, after waiting (maybe 5 minutes) it tries to reboot, gets to the owner page and locks up again, this process would not stop untill I powered down thew PC.
I don't have the windows disk to reinstall windows 10, so I had a local tech reinstall Windows. Tonight I check out the computer, everything worked as expected including CNC 12 Mill version 5.06, great. Knowing that windows would have to be set for CNC 12, again I tried CNC PC Tuner again, same thing. I endup at the Windows Recovery screen.
The PC checked passed with the exception of the CPU which (as I remember) had a score of 1498.
What should I do?

hmm, well that is a new one. can you post info about your pc?
type in "about your pc" in the windows search bar and take screen shot (or copy it) and post it here.

Power Settings:

- Start -> search 'Control Panel' -> System and Security -> Power Options

To see what is checked under 'Preferred Plans', then information present after selecting 'Choose what the power buttons do'

Computer Model: (covers some information that might not be present in 'About your PC')

- Start -> search 'System Information'

Windows Updates:

- Start -> search 'Check for Updates'

To make sure that everything is fully updated

As soon as I can get windows reloated I will send you my PC information. I had not completed the manual steps as outlined in TD309, because I had turned off WYFI, so I couldn't download 309. I decided to reboot before turning on WYFI, however the automatic steps to configure the PC with CNC PC Tuner and CNC 12 wizard configuration was complete. I can say that windows was updated the same day as CNC PC Tuner was used. Also as I recall CNC PC Tuner was a version above v1.0 but I will have to check if thats true.
A better question is, should I skip using CNC PC Tunerand configure the PC as I have for the past few years?
Thanks,
Steve

ken and toymakerskc,

thanks for the feedback, I spent some time on this today, i can't find anything in the PC Tuner that would cause this. but there may be some settings we want to add to the PC Tuner to adjust.

While researching your issues, I found that in Windows 11 the "Shut Down" button and software selection are not really a Shut Down like it is in Windows 10. This sucks for a CNC controller.
Windows Calls this new feature "Fast Start Up" TURN THIS OFF! this is a crazy idea and makes windows 11 shut down act sorta like sleep mode so when you shut down and start Windows it is NOT a clean boot up, it carries along the problems from the previous session. you can read all about it online.

If you are using Windows 11 be sure to.

control panel > power options > System settings

click "choose what the buttons do"

click "change settings that are currently unavailable"

UN CHECK 'Turn on fast startup (recommended)

windows 11 shut down fix.png
and set the buttons like shown above as well.
and un check sleep and hibernate.
be sure to save the changes and double check them, then shut down and restart.

If you are using Windows 10 (or 11) double check the hiberate and sleep settings on the machine.
windows 11 hibernate never.png
set all the selections (sleep after, allow hybrid sleep, hibernate after) under sleep to "never" by clicking on them individually and settings to never, be sure to click apply/ok.

if that didn't fix it.
would be great to see both your Windows Event Logs which might contain information in regards to what you are experiencing.

I can't help with a log, and I'm not going to kill another pc with it. I am on win 10. The fast start button is no longer there after running the app. It is there on another win 10 pc I have.
