DP 4 wiring

Post by pescadoman »

I have an older DP 4 and the wire colors don't match up with the schematics. I had it working until my board fried and was RMA'd, but I neglected to take notes. What is missing here seems to be the WHITE wire. Any help would be appreciated...

I reached out to Centroid.... The wire was damaged, hence the new connector. A guy named Scott recommended that the wire shouldn't have been cut(200.00 for a new cable. I never had the bulkhead connector, so..another 150.00 for that?). When I asked for help regarding what colors go to the Acorn, his exact reply was...
"You will need to figure that out. We do not recommend cutting that cable."
With help, I had it working before. Forgive my frustration.

The DP-4 manual http://www.centroidcnc.com/downloads/dp ... manual.pdf shows the wiring of the probe. Perhaps you can figure out your wire colors from where they connect on the probe's Lemo connector.
Cheers,

Tom
Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Is that a coil cord? If so, the colors will not match up to the colors in schematic S14690.
What is different about your configuration now from your original thread where you resolved this issue?

Trace out the colors and pins. Tom gave you the manual which has Centroid's standard wire color scheme for the DP-4 coil cord. On page 2 of your previous thread, he gave you the diagram for the whole DP-4 - coil cord - bulkhead connector system. If the colors don't match up, figure out which one goes to which LEMO pin. All of the schematics you have available will tell you the name of the signal. Match those up to the signal names on S14960 and you will have a working DP-4.

The cable (PN 11085) in S14960 is listed for $50, not $150. The DP-4 coil cable costs more because the components cost more.

I, for some reason, couldn't find that. I believe I can figure it out with what you provided. It's just very disappointing to me that I was told, by Centroid, "you figure it out.."

THANK YOU...
