Hello all,
I need help with my A-axis not moving. All axes are connected properly and moving, with the exception of my A axis and my B-asix as well. I am able to home them and manually move the A-axis using the MDI only.
I switched the Step and Dir wires from the Acorn H13 2nd output terminal point to all of the output terminals on H14, where my X, Y1, and Z are connected. A+ and A- buttons works fine.
I late move these wires to H13 output terminal 1st output point where my Y2 motor is normally connected. That connection point worked fine.
I then reconnected the A-axis step and Dir back to the H13 2nd & 3rd output terminal points on Acorn and I had no success. It appears that the 2nd and 3rd terminal connection points on H13, where I originally connected my A and B axes, do not work. Any suggestions?
For what it's worth, my machine has a B-axis for my rotary axis. The physical device is detached, but the wires are connected. could his be the issue?
I also noticed my max rate set at 1000 and my jog rate set at 1270. I have changed them to lower values, and the jog rate was set to a lower number than that of my max rate.
A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.

Re: A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.
In the report "A" is the axis 5 but the "A+" and "A-" VCP buttons are assigned to Axis 4.

Re: A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.
Thanks for the reasons. Will it be possible to walk me through on how to make the changes? I have no clue on how I managed to make that mistake. Can you point me to any video I came watch?
I also need to learn how to read & or interpret the report. So I can try find these answers myself.
Sorry for my rookie questions. This is the futhest I have gone with wiring or programming a CNC machine.
I'll poke through my system to see if I can make the changes while I await your respond.

Re: A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.
In the VCP manual starting on page 22 of this pdf is a description "Button Functionality assignments with Skin Event numbers":
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf
Looking in the "report_0008DC111213-1006220074_2023-06-11_15-18-09\resources\vcp\Buttons\a_positive" folder
I see that the "a_positive.xml" has the A+ button assigned to skin_event 31:
"<vcp_button>
<skin_event_num>31</skin_event_num>
<on_click_swap>a_positive_sawp.svg</on_click_swap>
</vcp_button>"
In the PLC source file it shows that skin_event_31 is assigned to the "SkinJogAx4Plus_M" memory bit:
"SkinJogAx4Plus_M IS SV_SKIN_EVENT_31"
"SkinJogAx5Plus_M" memory bit is assigned to skin_event_86:
"SkinJogAx5Plus_M IS SV_SKIN_EVENT_86"
So the "a_positive.xml" should be changed to:
"<vcp_button>
<skin_event_num>86</skin_event_num>
<on_click_swap>a_positive_sawp.svg</on_click_swap>
</vcp_button>"
And the "a_negative.xml" should be changed to:
"<vcp_button>
<skin_event_num>87</skin_event_num>
<on_click_swap>a_negative_Swap.svg</on_click_swap>
</vcp_button>"
The report has a .txt file with the same name as the zip file that shows the control setup and axis assignments at the time of the report:
Axis Label Motor Encoder Lash Comp. Limit Home Dir Screw

Re: A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.
Thank you Centroid Tech 2 and cncKeith. The direction Tech 2 gave me works. also read the attached link on Tech2’s response. The problem I am having is that I need to make the same changes to my B-axis . This is a detached Rotatry axis that I used 40% of the time. KThe 86 and 87 #s given moved my A-axis only. Can you show me how to make these corrections and how to find the “skin event # functions” ? I am not able to locate the folder or xml file that contain skin event # functions.

Re: A-Axis & B-axis not output connection point not working.
From the report it looks like the b_axis buttons are mapped to the 4th axis correctly as are the c_axis which is the button you have mapped in the "acorn_router_vcp_skin.vcp" file.
Either one of the buttons will move the 4th Axis. The 86 and 87 numbers are only for the 5th Axis.
You can view the “skin event # functions” in the " acorn_router_plc.src" file under "System variables: Virtual Control Panel Events"
I've attached a copy of that section.
