The magnetic base for the TT-4 Tool Touch Off for a mill is great . How to mount it in a lathe chuck ? Does it have a threaded hole on the bottom for a stem ?
Or is i possible to convert the KP-3 probe to a tool touch off device ?
I have the KP-3 which works very well. Part setup on the mill and digitizing it excels .Thanks in advance all.

Loosen the 3 adjustment screws at the base and the magnet base comes off. See https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... +r8#p35765

Tom is correct, the magnet base can be removed with those three screws then you can install a KP-3 mounting stem. That will let you easily chuck it in the lathe. That thread has good information about how to mount the KP-3 and TT-4.

The KP-3 is not recommended for use in horizontal orientation such as on a typical lathe. Our tool touchoff puck stylus will not mount on a KP-3 and there are some internal differences between the two that make the TT-4 suitable for lathe use.
  • If you already have a TT-4 with the magnet base, you can contact DIY sales and order part #12360 for a 1/2" diameter probe shank or #14957 for 10mm diameter.
  • Otherwise, if you do not already have a TT-4 and the associated cables, you can order the TT-4 lathe kit for your control: #15274 for ACORN/ACORN6 or #15275 for OAK/ALLIN1DC. These come with the 1/2" diameter shank by default and 10mm can be substituted on request.
