AcornSix Invert Inputs

Post by kman1967 »

I am just finishing wiring my AcornSix. My drives outputs close when faulted. I would like to wire them to the inputs without using a relay, transistor or resistor to invert the logic in the AcornSix. Right now it expects an active input for an OK drive. Can I change these specific inputs to signal the drive is ok when not active or am I stuck inverting the signal with an external means?

In the wizard input screen, click on the green circle to change it to normally open

Have a look at the install manual, this info is in section 6.3. Acorn works with both NO and NC inputs. You select which option you need.

Yes, I know about changing the NC/NO, problem is the input seems to be looking for an active condition to satisfy the "axis OK" condition. I have tried both conditions and get a fault in both if the input is not active. In other words it has to be green or it faults out. I need the input to give an OK condition when it is off.

Clicking to change "NC" to "NO" should cause the Wizard to set inversion for whichever input you are using.

On the Alt-i screen then, that input should appear with a line above it, and it should be green when the actual input circuit is open; and red when the actual input circuit is closed. That should allow your normally-open fault signal to appear to be normally-closed (green when okay).

If the input is inverted, and your drive is not faulted, and the input circuit is open, and the dot on the Alt-i screen is green, and you still get a drive fault condition, then there is something else going on that you will need to investigate.

So far this is not working..
In the Acorn Wizard I have assigned the input as Axis 1 OK. I made the input NC.
When I open the Alt-I diagnostic screen that input is RED with no input signal. It is not green with an inversion line at all. I have tried multiple way and nothing is working

If the drive is going to close the input only when the drive is faulted, then when you assign the input as Axis1DriveOk, you also have to toggle it to "NO".

Are you sure you have them wired to sink current? Show a diagram of your alarm connections and how you have them wired

Yes. My common goes through the drive fault relay to input 16 on the Acorn which has it's common tied to +24v
