Now for the Rotary Axis:
The Rotary Axis was supplied by Tomatech in China, I don't know if they make it, or not, but they're happy to supply and support it, so that's all I really need. http://www.tomatech-cnc.com/

Servo Drive Adtech for rotary axis.jpg The Rotary Axis is unbranded, but when I asked for a price, I asked for it to include a high quality chuck. The chuck supplied, looks quite nice. Indexing on the chuck is monitored by a switch that I haven't connected to the Acorn yet, because I'm not really sure how to connect it. This is the current job. I have attached the manual for the Rotary Axis to this post,

So, what I was asking in the previous post, was how to connect the index switch to the Acorn

Per the manual you posted:

Cable Wiring :

There are one 2pins cable and 2 wires(white) here:
2 pins cable is for home switch( NC type) ,it has 2 wires:
brown and blue

(if your cnc controller need 0v as home input signal , then please connect blue to 0v and brown to home input signal )

(if your cnc controller need 24v as home input signal , then please connect brown to 24v and blue to home input signal )

So you would connect the BLU wire to 0V, and the BRN wire to whatever Acorn input you have available and want to use for rotary home (presumably "FourthAxisHomeOk" in the Wizard).

I was wondering what the 24v line was for - unused in this case.

I just connected my the brown and blue wires to each probe on a multi-meter that had a continuity beeper, but the switch never closed. So no beeps.
Does it only work when it is in circuit?

Your manual references two white wires, which supposedly are for a clamp (brake) solenoid.

Your manual implies that the home sensor is sensitive to polarity, so I would expect your meter to show continuity only if you put the red test lead on the brown wire, and the black test lead on the blue wire. Perhaps not even then: maybe the sensor requires some minimum voltage across it before it will conduct. You could always just rig up a test circuit with a 24VDC supply, an LED, and a resistor (maybe 2K).

Hi Cncsw the 24v line I was referring to is the one mentioned in the manual "(if your cnc controller need 24v as home input signal , then please connect brown to 24v and blue to home input signal)"
I probably wasn't calling it by the right name. What I meant was the 24v home signal input that the manual refers to isn't needed in the scenario that you suggested.
It was just a throw away comment on my part.
