Lathe thread chasing

Post by Petel »

Is there a method on Centroid Lathe to pick up on a thread that needs re-cutting / chasing?

Thread cutting within a program on a new part is great, I've had good success with this, but how do I put a threaded component back into the chuck and recut the same thread to repair it or lengthen it?

The prototrak software has an option called 'thread repair' to do this; is there a procedure to follow to allow me to do this on my centroid control? I've been through the lathe manual but can't find any reference to this.

Thanks

TB 170 covers this: https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... ds/170.pdf
It sucks big time. Maybe I should suggest improving this as a software enhancement.
Cheers,

Looking forward to this. I do a lot of re-threading now on a manual lathe.

Thanks Keith! I don't do it often, but when I do, I remember why I don't want to do it.

ha! yeah me too.
there is much discussion between a few dealers and power users on how to implement a user friendly version of this feature.
taking it all in and trying to please the 98% as usual.
