That's what I really am measuring, the center of the cutout in the instrument panel. So far, and again, for what I'm doing the TP06C is more than accurate for my work. I dont use the probe in the same way you or others do so if the center of the hole is off by .004" I'm OK with that as I'm not machining or doing anything with the hole other than locating the center.suntravel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 11:19 am Diameter measurement is easy, but how exact is the center of a bore or edge?
I often have both with TopCom and TP06 >0,1mm run out after some use, that is not ok for me. So if I need a precision position, first check run out and readjust.
KP3 dialed in 0,005mm stays in my use almost forever 0,005 so I can use it and trust the measured position.

I use the probe to digitize the OEM instrument panel and all its holes so I can have a CAD model of it.
Topcom now makes a new version for measuring tools, have a look if you haven't seen it yet.
