Well, after finally getting all of the parts together we
are starting this journey.
1) In doing the Bench Testing, after connecting the 120VAC to 5 and 24VDC power supply
to the proper connectors on the Acorn6 Board and checking the DC voltages before and
after connecting to the board we find the following. Also, the Emergency Stop is connected
per schematic to H4 IN8 and COM.
A) The DC voltages measured are V1 = 5.11VDC and V2 = 23.65 VDC at both the Power supply and
the connections to the Acorn6 Board.
B) The Acorn6 on board LED1 after letting everything settle in indicates 6 which translates
to "Power Failure"
We have checked all of the connections and everything is tight, nothing out of the usual.
Wire Codes: Red +5vdc
Yellow +24vdc
Black Com
Green Ground ac
White Neutral ac
Black Line ac
C) serial number of Acorn6 1010220080
Included below are pictures of just the Acorn Board powered up for this Bench Test and the
general layout of the Control Cabinet.
Any ideas what one would check other then for loose connections?
Best Regards,
Preston

I would adjust the power supply to 24V and make sure all connections are tight.

Ok, I disconnected all connections and adjusted the voltage
on V2 to 24.12 VDC.
Reconnected all connections and checked again the Bench Testing
and still get the Acorn6 on board LED1 after letting everything settle
in indicates 6 which translates to "Power Failure"
Any further ideas before I purchase another board or change back to the
original Acorn4 board?
Regards,
Preston

What is the voltage with the Acorn6 connected? Try raising it such that the voltage, when loaded is >24vdc.
Also, I'm curious what your six axis will be?

The voltage is 24.12 VDC with the Acorn5 connected. I should have
made that clearer.
For the Hurco Bed Mill it will be 5 axis and ATC control.
I am making all of the connections that exit the controller
Aircraft Connections, with the possibility of also using the same
controller to do a 4 or 5 axis conversion to one our our Lathes with
and ATC also.

The Board are tested from Centroid, should work.
Connect only the powersupply and try again pls.

Yes, I know that the Boards are tested from Centroid. Thus my concern.
I have 2 other machines working find on Acorn4.
I always use one of these Anti Static Wrist Straps when working on any
electronic boards...
I totally unwired everything and tested 2 other power supplies in
addition to the original.
All set to 24.15 to 24.25VDC at the Acorn6 Board.
No E Stop or anything else connected and with E Stop connected.
Just Com, 5 vdc, 24vdc, and Ground to the Power Supply.
Even tried with 5vdc connected and not connected.
Tried with the Com1-4, 5-9, 9-12, and 13-16 connected and not connected to 24vdc.
Each and every time, I totally unwired everything and then made
sure that all connections were good. I even changed out the wires and ends
of the connectors.
Each and every time, Bench Testing
and still get the Acorn6 on board LED1 after letting everything settle
in indicates 6 which translates to "Power Failure" after powering on for
about 15 seconds...
The LED1 does it normal cycling of the lights going around in a some what
circle pattern, ending up in a 6 displayed.
Any further ideas?
Best Regards,
Preston

Preston,
i can get a "6" to show up when i disconnect the Ethernet cable and power up my AcornSix.
to fix this i make sure my ethernet adapter is working on the CNCPC and power down AcornSix, connect ethernet cable on both ends (AcornSix and CNCPC), power back on and it boots up as normal.

Your ethenet cable AcornSix to CNCPC in the photos is plugged into the wrong port.
