Wiring help for Newb <Stepper Online AC servo hookup, T6 drive>

Post by Dmatt88 »

Hello all,
Need some help desperately with wiring diagram. I can’t seem to find one similar to any of my stuff.

Using:
Acorn
Cnc12
T6 Stepperonline 750w for XYZ
Invertek Optidrive 3 VFD 5HP

I can’t get anything to work on acorn, but the spindle works from the VFD keypad when I take it out of terminal mode, and the drives work in motion studio…. Something to do with my wiring to the acorn I’m sure.
Here is some schematics. Photos are the servo drive terminals.

This link is VFD manual.

https://isource.invertekdrives.com/clie ... 0V1.03.pdf

My VFD is currently set up for Configuration 5, Were digital inputs one and two are forward and reverse.

I tried in the acorn wizard to assign output 4 and 5, to forward and reverse. So I connected the 24v supply from VFD to middle terminal on 4, and forward on VFD to the right side. But I can’t even get the output LEDs to light up when I try to turn on the spindle from acorn.

So, supposing you have assigned "SpinFWD" to OUT4, and you are watching OUT4 on the Alt-i display:

If you switch to Manual spindle mode, have spindle CW selected, and press Spindle Start, OUT4 should turn green.
If you switch to Auto spindle mode, enter "M3 S1000" at the MDI prompt, and press Cycle Start, OUT4 should turn green.

If it does not, the problem is not (necessarily) with your VFD interface wiring.

Do you have OUT4 forced off? I.e., when you look at the Alt-i screen, is there a white underline below the red dot?

Beyond that, you might have a limit switch tripped, or a fault condition present, or a probe connected, etc.. It would be impossible to guess at all the possibilities without seeing a Report from your control.

I’ll check for the white underline in the morning. All limit switches are unhooked as I was trouble shooting. No probes connected, and no faults.

Any ideas on how to wire the T6? I can’t get the drives to enable. Not sure which ports on the drives to connect to what, other then pul, dir, I wired them up like everyone else’s but mine doesn’t have enable or drive-on or alm…

looks like this drive has both 5vdc and 24 vdc step/dir inputs. i bet the 5 vdc ones work better, so that means connect to DB25 on Acorn. I'll ask chuck to take a stab at a T6 to Acorn hookup schematic for you.

Draft using DB25 step and direction connections.

I also will be using these drives, I have bench tested them using the 24vdc but will likely use the 5v. I used the Leadshine ELP400 Diagram as it is the same drive with a different badge (https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... 103.r1.pdf)

With Regard to the Alarm function, can I run all 3 axis into one input? or do they need to be separate.

Luke.

Edit: The above comment about being the same as ELP Drives isn't quite true, as the ELP has more IO. I Believe it is the same as the EL7 Drive however.
