Hello,
I have a Sherline Mill with its DRO unit and it has an optical encoder. I understand I can use a rotary encoder like omron, is it possible to use that Optical Encoder with centroid ?
Thank you.

Re: Optical Encoder Not Rotary Encoder
Acorn and cnc12 doesn't care what method is used by the encoder to detect position. What counts is the type of signal it generates
if the optical encoder outputs quadrature differential encoder signal then yes it will work.
A, /A, B, /B, Z, /Z, +5VDC and ground.
see this post for all the encoder info you need.
