2 Spindles AcornSix

Post by Rensoc »

The new Acorn Six board shows 2 analog outputs. Is this to operate 2 spindles independently?

yes with some initial limitations. such as no dual independent rigid tapping (that will be a future software feature.)

Thats great. This is very exciting! I just keep getting amazed by what Centroid is doing. Is there a screen shot of the control showing both spindle controls?

right now in v4.99 rev4 they are paired, so nothing to see.

Will it work two separate motors in Beta? Or will I have to wait until full version is out? I'll just be turning on the second motor and setting a speed. I know I could do this cheaper with control outside of Acorn but I would rather not.

Im building a machine similar to a gun drill. It will have a main spindle (#1) and a counter rotating second spindle (#2) on the other end. All I need #2 spindle to do is turn on and hold a programmed RPM. Which will be different than the main spindle. It's pretty simple.

You don't need dual analog for this. Most VFDs have a set speed setting, and on-off can be controlled by the same spindle on signal as the main spindle.
Cheers,

Yes I guess your right tblough. I was just so stuck on doing it all from the control and would still like to do that but if I can't... I have your idea. They even have remote controls for some VFD i could keep at the control for O/I and changing speeds. Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for explaining exactly what you want to do. This is why I always ask what the goal is, cuz often there's more than one way to go about it!
