Bonfiglioli vfd compatibility

Post by Markostojic »

Hi, i was enquiring if the vfd is compatible with acorn, i found a post on the forum but nobody replied, i have wrote down next to the column what i think it is, but not sure, the vfd is an active cube
Thanks in advance

If the VFD can take 0-10v analog voltage input for frequency/speed control then yes it'll work.

Hi I am struggling to get acorn to control my bonfiglioli vfd, i got given the motor parameters from hiteco and the spindle is spinning on configuration 110 nicely,i have tried changing the local remote parameter to both analog and digital control with no luck, i have attached my control wiring to acorn, everything on the acorn side works as expected when trying to turn the spindle on, all outputs turn on and off as expected , the acorn sees a spindle fault from the X10 relay as expected, when i changed configuration to 111 for a technology controller my spindle had a whining sound, thanks in advance for any help

Hi,Option 1
I have managed to get the acorn to control the run and clockwise of the spindle on configuration 110 but because it asks for an potentiometer with fixed 10v coming from the vfd and acorn 0-10v,where it should show 12000rpm at 400hz it is only showing 110hz and fluctuating, is there a work around to not having a potentiometer
Option 2
I have managed to control the run signal through acorn on configuration 111 with technology controller but have not been able to get the start clockwise through the output relay, i tried to assign parameter 68 which is start clockwise to the digital input S2IND the same as configuration 110 but have had no luck as i dont require a potentiometer with this configuration
Thanks in advance for any help

You'll definitely want to keep it in analog control mode. I am not sure why the direction signal is behaving differently in configuration 110 vs 111. Please post a current report from CNC12 and the VFD parameters.

As for the frequency being low: what spindle speed percentage were you commanding? Does the voltage on the ACORN terminals correspond to that speed?

You may want to try one of these circuits at the ACORN's 0-10V output if the voltage is not right or fluctuating.

there are some parameters from config. 110 which are not in config. 111 the wiring to output relay from vfd i changed from my original drawing which works on config.110 except for correct spindle speed, motor parameters were given to me from hiteco with a file i uploaded into the vfd . you can upload bonfiglioli v plus software to look at parameters which will be attached . i have tried changing just about anything i thought that could get the atc spindle working with the acorn, 0-10v on acorn work properely as they should. disregard all the errors on the report as i have been turning acorn on and off a lot of times in the last 6 weeks whilst cnc12 is still running.

Changed my 0-10v cable and ground it and it seems ti work right now on config 110 without a potentiometer, still have fluctuation of 8 100’s of a hertz on the vfd reading and not sure if thats normal or not

All seems to work good now , i have attached my control wiring for anybody who uses this vfd in the future, not sure whether the control wiring is 100% correct but it does work
