What?
Clarify.
Are you saying you reconnected X back to axis 1 on Acorn and it's working now?

no i left the wires hooked to the fourth axis and parried the 4th axis to the first axis no wires in the First axis or the original x axis and when you jog x- it goes x- and when you jog x+ it jogs x+

dc voltage goes high and low when you put the meter on the forth DIR pin 1st axis or the x axis doesn't work anymore but I can use the board as a 3 axis for my mill

Ok, you can go into the CNC12 config menu and force Axis 4 as the X axis label.
or the solution you came up with works as well X axis label on axis one and then pair to to 4th but have X actually connected to the 4th, good thinking!

I am having the exact same issue, except my machine has been working for a while, and out of the blue x axis would only move one direction. When testing Y axis i get 5v one direction and a few millivolts the other. When testing X axis I only get a few millivolts regardless of direction. I have replaced the step, dir, and enable wires from acorn to the drive for x axis, swapped x drive for y(Y works fine Either way) and y for x, as well as wired the new wires to the 4th axis and marry that axis to x same as on this post....Even after that x still only moves one direction.
I am about to pull everything out of the box and completely rewire(wiring is only 2 years old and i havnt used the machine a dozen times since installed). But before i do is there any chance that the cnc12 software could be causing this? Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I am running a rev 4 acorn board and all the standard windows hardware all in spec for acorn. My motors are china nema34 with ss880 drives. It was all working, except maybe 4 times in 2 years and a dozen uses the x axis would act up like this, all i would do is restart everything and it would work fine but now that doesnt work. Any help would be greatly apretiated , I really do not want to tear this thing down but i am several hours troubleshooting at this point and dont want to waste any more time.

Thanks in advance and sorry about the log post.

no on the software doing this.

go back to basics.

what happens when you swap X and Y motor connections.. does it follow? or stay?

then swap acorn to drive signal, does it follow? or stay?

etc... to figure out where the issue is coming from.

Thanks for the quick reply, if i move Y axis controls to X driver then the x axis works as it should. If i put Y axis cntrls back on Y driver or Z driver for that matter they work as expected. But if i put X axis cntrls on Y driver then Y axis moves only one direction. The issue arrises if i try to cntrl any drive using the X or 4th Axis controls. I have swapped drives between all Axis and X is only one effected. Really looks like the acorn board or software. Its just odd to me that the only erffected axis is X and 4th (which i have never used untill now.
I am stumped.

Is there a way to reload factory firmware to the acorn? if so can you direct me to a link?

a firmware change will have no effect of this, has nothing to do with it. it either works or doesn't.

guess its possible you blew out the direction signal on X

are you connected to the DB25 or the screw terminals?
